I started a new technology adventure and was approved for a six month full time class on developing iOS apps for iPhone and iPad using the new Swift Programming Language. I am excited that I finally can write programs for my omnipresent iPad.
Many app ideas have come to mind already and I also see a book on the horizon explaining app development and the Swift language to traditional Web Developers
I went to the L.A. Opera on September 17. They had a double header. First, Placido Domingo sung the title role in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, produced by Woody Allen. I have never, ever laughed so much during an opera production. After intermission, Placido conducted Pagliacci, the same Zeffirelli production I saw Placido sing the Canio part years ago. They left the lights on in the orchestra pit so you could watch him conduct.
I have written a book on web development. It is published by Packt Publishing. You can buy it on their site, oreilly.com and amazon.com. The first reviews are in too. I am excited. The title is Practical Web Development and it gives an overview of all the technologies involved in classical and modern web development, from static pages to responsive design to node.js
